The Growlery 2.0

October 2020

After a long search we have found our new home in the East Bay - a warehouse in Oakland with an extensive woodworking shop and other fantastic tools and spaces. It's a unique property that's been tended to and developed for years by the previous owner. We are in currently the brainstorm/planning process and I will be posting updates as we move forward

In early 2020 when COVID hit the Bay Area, the Growlery strove to maintain the highest level of safety for our artists and staff possible.  We were so saddened to cancel the last show in our San Francisco space. We had wanted to celebrate the three month residency of the 5/5ths Collective with the community.

As we look forward into the next year or two, we do not see a way to safely host groups of artists from all over the country and globe in one communal living space. As such we are turning our focus to supporting local artists. We have sold our beautiful property in San Francisco and are looking to the East Bay to acquire studio space to offer at below market rate to artists. We will continue to offer grants and other collaborations until we find our next physical home. While we miss our SF home, we will always cherish the memories and art that was created in that magical place.

As we shift our offerings from our Haight-Ashbury walls to San Francisco’s East Bay we will continue to share upcoming opportunities to participate in our grants program, off-site programming, events, exhibitions, and workshops, via our Instagram, Facebook pages, and through our mailing list. For information on partnership opportunities, please reach out to contact@thegrowlery.org.

We look forward to continuing to grow our community, and inviting you to be part of contextual, thought-provoking programs which reflect our commitment to facilitating the creative development of the SF Bay Area.
