During her residency at the Growlery, Tania Houtzager has created site specific sculptures and installations that play with the potentiality of space and suggest realities that are just out of reach. Through a process based practice, Houtzager’s works strive to highlight the absence of forms. Like spectres or memories, Houtzager’s creations evoke something intangible and intimate, activating the environs of the large Victorian house through a push and pull of soft and hard, simplicity and intricacy, emptiness and presence.
